A team of UK nuclear mission composing experts from nuclear industries visited KAERI on July 13, 2011.
As part of their efforts to explore possibilities for promoting bilateral cooperation after a steep decline of nuclear activities over the past 20 years,
they visited Korea to seek ways to get out of long period of dark tunnel in nuclear energy.
The main purpose of their visit to KAERI is to learn about over research activities carried out at KAERI and discuss a wide range of issues including back-end fuel cycle and waste management, decontamination and decommissioning, etc. Overview of KAERI research activities and Jordan Research and Training Reactor(JRTR) project were presented at the meeting and exchanged views on interested items.
Head of UK mission presented the overview of UK nuclear industries and strong areas UK has possessed in the areas of back-end fuel cycle and waste management, decontamination and decommissioning, training and education, was proposed for utilization by other countries.
They made a technical tour of HANARO research reactor.
