In June 2023, Dr. In Cheol Lim, Executive Vice President, was appointed as a Member of the IAEA Standing Advisory Group on Nuclear Energy(SAGNE) for the term of 2023-2026. 

With a wealth of knowledge and expertise in nuclear technology, Dr. Lim has enjoyed a distinguished career in various nuclear scientific leadership positions. This includes serving as the Chairman of 2013 International Group on Research Reactor (IGORR) organizing Committee, Deputy-Chairperson of the IAEA Technical Working Group on Research Reactor (TWG-RR), and an expert on the IAEA’s project on Promoting Self-Reliance and Sustainability of National Nuclear Institutes in the Asia-Pacific Region. On the domestic front, he served as the President of the Korean Society of Radiation Industry and Chairperson of the Association for Nuclear Societies in Korea. He currently serves as a board member of the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies.  

His appointment as an IAEA SAGNE member is a reflection of his deep and recognized experience and expertise spanning 40 years across a wide range of areas in nuclear technologies. This will play a significant role in the achievement of the IAEA SAGNE's  mandated mission and will also raise Korea’s status in the global arena. The IAEA SAGNE was established in 2000 to advise the Director General on the Agency's activities in the area of nuclear power, nuclear fuel cycle, and waste technology, and on matters concerning the assessment of the role of nuclear power in sustainable energy development. 

Dr. Lim said, “It is a tremendous honor to be appointed as an IAEA SAGNE member. I look forward to working closely with many outstanding members over the coming years”.
