The delegation of the Ultra Safe Nuclear Corporation(USNC) of the USA led by USNC CEO Francesco Venneri visited KAERI on April 21, 2023. During his meeting with Mr. Venneri, Dr. Han Gyu Joo, President of KAERI, discussed diverse topics on promoting cooperation in the development and wide use of Micro-Modular Reactor(MMR). 

USNC develops the MMR which is a micro-reactor that operates as a flexible nuclear battery and has active MMR deployment projects at Canadian Nuclear Laboratories' Chalk River site.  

KAERI and USNC agreed to promote active cooperation on the development and utilization of MMR with HTGR(High-Temperature Gas-cooled Reactor) design which is capable of producing high temperature heat and is readily constructed at the industrial sites near plants in need of electricity and heat.
