On October 29, 2026, Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) welcomed a German delegation comprising representatives from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE), the German Bundestag, and energy and technology companies.
The visit provided an opportunity to strengthen ties between Korea and Germany and explore potential cooperation in advanced nuclear technologies.
During the meeting, KAERI introduced its research and development activities, with a particular focus on small modular reactors (SMRs). Both sides exchanged views on recent technological developments and potential areas for future research collaboration.

Following the meeting, the delegation toured KAERI's Helium Experimental Loop (HELP), a research facility supporting the development and validation of high-temperature gas-cooled reactor (HTGR) technologies. The visit offered an opportunity to gain firsthand insight into KAERI's advanced reactor research capabilities.
The visit laid the groundwork for continued technical exchanges and potential joint research between KAERI and German partners.
