Czech Delegation Visited KAERI
The Czech delegation composed of H.E. Mr. Vaclav Bartuska, the ambassador-at-Large for Energy Security, H.E. Mr. Gustav Slamecka, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Korea, and Mr. Pavel Kalina, Head of Economic and Commercial Section at the Czech Embassy, visited KAERI on March 23 2022 to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
At the meeting with KAERI President, they discussed a wide range of issues of common interest such as the management of spent fuel, SMR, MSR(Molten Salt Reactor), NPP life extension, the soon-to-be signed MOU between KAERI and Nuclear Research Institute(NRI) in Czech and also the recent Ukraine situation following the Russian invasion of Russia. After the Czech delegation were briefed on the current status of technology development in SMR and MSR, they appreciated KAERI providing valuable information and expressed their interest in these areas.
They took a technical tour of the Integral Effect Test Facility of SMART(SMART-ITL) of its objective is to investigate and understand the integral performance of reactor systems and components and the thermal-hydraulic phenomena occurred in the system during normal, abnormal and emergency conditions, and to verify the system safety during various design basis events of SMART.
Czech Republic recently launched a tender for new unit at Dukovany nuclear plant.
